Digital Double overview

Digital Double reconstructs a 3D head from a handful of photos: place pins on facial features across your photo set, solve a camera pose and a head shape that fit all of them at once, then bake the photos into one texture. The result exports as a GLB with a full set of ARKit expression shapes already wired in.

Shooting the photos

Two to eight photos of the same person, from different angles: front, three-quarter, profile. More angles genuinely help the solve; more photos of the same angle don't.

The solve has two hard minimums

A single photo needs at least 6 enabled pins before Kitly can work out a camera pose for it at all. The head shape itself needs roughly a dozen well-placed pins spread across your photos before it moves off a neutral, generic head. Below either threshold, that part of the fit just doesn't happen, silently.

The four tabs

  • Pins: place and drag pins on each photo. Covered in Pins and solving.
  • 3D: the fitted head in a live viewport, always up to date with whatever tab you're actually on.
  • Texture: bake the photos into a skin and eye texture, then color-grade the result. Covered in Texture and lighting.
  • Expressions: preview and drive the 51 ARKit expression shapes, and export the finished GLB. Covered in Expressions and export.

A live 3D preview docks under whichever tab you're on, so a pin drag or a texture tweak shows up on the model immediately without switching to the 3D tab to check.
