Storyboard

Storyboard is a panel-based planning layer over the same sequence Edit works on. Lay out shots, generate stills and video for each one, and when a board is ready, push it onto the timeline as real clips.

Laying out the board

Switch between Grid, Horizontal strip, and Vertical strip layouts, and use the size slider to fit more or fewer cards on screen. Add Shot creates a blank panel; dropping an image asset onto the board seeds a new shot from it directly.

Derive from Timeline adds one panel per video clip already on the Edit timeline that doesn't have a shot yet, useful when you cut first and want to storyboard around what's already there.

Each card shows its first keyframe still (or the linked clip's own thumbnail if it has no still yet), padded to the media's real aspect ratio rather than forced to 16:9. A brass GENERATING chip or a red FAILED chip appears while work is in flight. A small film-and-link badge marks a card that's linked to a timeline clip.

The shot panel

Selecting a card opens its details on the right:

  • Title, Prompt, and an optional Shot length in seconds (leave it blank and the engine uses its own default).
  • Cast & Locations: toggle which recurring characters and environments belong in this shot. They're woven into every generation's prompt and reference images automatically, so you don't retype a character's look on every shot.
  • Continuity: link this shot to another as an Extension (a narrative hint only) or a Keyframe Match (seeds this shot's first frame from the linked shot's last). Drag one card onto another's Continuity section to link them.
  • Keyframes: a shot can hold a First frame, Middle frame, and Last frame, each generated and versioned independently, so an engine that takes a start and end image gets one built specifically for each. A shot always needs at least one.
  • References: reference images fed into every generation for this shot, on top of whatever Cast & Locations resolves.
  • Shot Video: pick an engine and generate. Needs a completed first-frame still first. A folder-picker icon lets you use footage you already have instead, which lands directly on the timeline.
  • Audio Behind the Shot: pick a music, sound-effect, or voice engine, a target lane, and generate.
  • Notes: free text, for you, not the model.

Cast & Locations

Open the Cast & Locations dialog to manage the roster. A character or environment is backed by a Kitly Asset: give it a name, pick reference images from that asset's Take channels, and optionally have Kitly write a one-sentence consistency descriptor for it from those images. That descriptor rides along in every generation's prompt, so the character stays recognizable even before a model has actually looked at the reference images.

Preview

The preview bar plays the board back panel by panel, in auto, image, video, or audio mode. Auto prefers video, then falls back to a still, then audio, then a silent hold if a shot has nothing yet.

The preview is for review, not for editing

It's a quick way to watch the board in order. It doesn't give you real multi-track playback the way the Edit timeline does. For that, use Sync Timeline To Board.

Sync Timeline To Board

Places each shot's generated clip onto the Edit timeline, in board order. This is the actual hand-off from planning to editing: once synced, the clips are ordinary timeline clips, cuttable with every tool in Editing.
